Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GeoReminder Android application (the "App"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. App Usage and Safety Disclaimer

GeoReminder is designed to provide location-based notifications. You agree to use the App safely and responsibly.

• No Distracted Driving: You must not interact with the App, create reminders, or read notifications while driving, cycling, or operating heavy machinery. Always prioritize your safety and the safety of others.
• Not for Critical Alerts: The App is intended for casual, everyday reminders. Because it relies on GPS signals, network connectivity, and your device's battery optimization settings, reminders may occasionally fail, trigger late, or not trigger at all. You should not rely on GeoReminder for medical, emergency, or time-critical alerts.
• Technical and OS Limitations: The App's functionality is subject to technical constraints imposed by your device's operating system. This includes strict limits on the maximum number of active location geofences that can be monitored simultaneously in the background. If you reach your device's limit, you must manually mark existing reminders as inactive before the App can trigger new ones.

2. In-App Purchases and Refunds

GeoReminder offers an optional in-app purchase to unlock unlimited reminders.

• Account Linking: While you can purchase the premium unlock without signing in, we strongly recommend signing in with your Google account. This links the purchase to your cloud profile. If you choose not to sign in, your purchase status is stored locally, and we cannot guarantee it will be restored if you reinstall the App or change devices.
• Refund Policy: All payment transactions are handled entirely by the Google Play Store. Under standard Google Play policy, you may request an automatic refund through the Play Store within 48 hours of your purchase. After this 48-hour window, all sales are considered final. Manual refunds requested by contacting support are granted solely at our discretion on a case-by-case basis.

2.1 Pre-registration Reward ("5-Reminder Bonus")

Users who pre-register for GeoReminder on the Google Play Store prior to the official production launch are eligible for a one-time "Starter Bonus" reward.

• The Reward: Eligible users will receive a permanent increase of their active reminder limit from 3 to 5.
• Eligibility: This offer is only available to users who click the "Pre-register" button on the Google Play Store and install the App within 30 days of the official launch.
• No Cash Value: The pre_registration_bonus is a virtual item. It has no cash value, cannot be refunded for currency, and cannot be transferred to other accounts or devices not linked to the original Google Play account.
• Automatic Fulfillment: The reward is delivered automatically via the Google Play Billing Library. You must be signed into the Google Play Store on your device to receive the bonus.
• Termination: We reserve the right to cancel or modify this promotion if we detect fraudulent activity or technical exploitation.

3. Acceptable Use and Cloud Storage

If you choose to sign in, the App will sync your reminder data to our cloud infrastructure (Google Firestore). You agree not to misuse this service. You are strictly prohibited from using the App to:

• Store illegal, malicious, or highly offensive content.
• Store highly sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) belonging to unauthorized third parties.
• Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, or abuse our API or Firebase backend infrastructure.

4. Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend, disable, or terminate your cloud account and sync privileges at any time, without prior notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, abused the service, or engaged in fraudulent activity.

5. Modifications to the App

We reserve the right to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue the App, or any specific feature within the App, at any time without prior notice or liability to you.

6. Intellectual Property

The App, including its original code, design, branding, and text, is owned by the developer and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without explicit permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. We expressly disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, completely secure, or error-free, nor do we guarantee the accuracy or reliability of the geofencing triggers.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APP. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM MISSED REMINDERS OR FAILED LOCATION TRIGGERS.

9. Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services, including Google Maps and MapTiler, to function. By using GeoReminder, you also agree to be bound by the respective Terms of Service of these third-party providers.

10. Governing Law and Severability

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Slovakia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. By continuing to access or use the App after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
